Kim Jong Un made an appearance to inaugurate a fertilizer plant and celebrate Labour Day (May 1), according to North Korean State-run media outlet Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The purpose of this seems to be to dispel rumors about his ill-health, but international media has been unable to verify the authenticity of these reports.

Along with this, a note of thanks to particular party members was also allegedly penned and sent by Kim himself. The authenticity and recency of the report and the accompanying pictures and videos are being questioned as it shows Kim Jong Un, his sister Kim Yo Jong and other North Korean officials sitting close to each other in a golf cart without any precautions or surgical masks. However, senior South Korean government officials close to the President claim that Kim is ‘alive and well’, and they have noted ‘no suspicious movements’ yet. US President Donald Trump declined to comment on the issue.
