Delhi Elections: The return of Kejriwal!

Arvind Kejriwal has been re-elected as the chief minister of Delhi when the results declared 62 out of 70 seats in favour of AAP. After his party won a resounding victory in capital elections, Kejriwal returned to his throne amidst plentiful applauds. Although BJP was very sure they would secure their position in the Delhi elections this year, the defeat has risen a sharper drift between AAP and BJP.

“This is a win for Mother India,” Kejriwal told his supporters at the AAP office. As he waved at them and blew victory kisses, he said: “loved the people of Delhi”.

Did he deserve it?

Kejriwal first came to power in 2013 and was re-elected in 2015. The anti-corruption campaigner has established several schools for the children and many affordable clinics for regular health check-ups to ensure a healthy living. He has also worked towards the provision of cheap electricity and water that has helped millions of people.

In an interview, he also said, “It’s not just my win. This is a win for every family whose children are now getting a good education in school, whose family members are getting good treatment in hospitals”.

The aftermath

The party couldn’t stop rejoicing at their victory on Delhi Elections day. Kejriwal’s party gathered for a celebration where the members informed BBC Hindi about their win and how they decided to make things work.

The BJP has minutely improved its tally since 2015 this year. As for the Congress party, it is fair to say that they have made zero improvements to get over their consistent electoral defeat.

Whether Kejriwal deserved his position, or it’s just a mere fallacy we do not know yet. Let’s wait until his services do the talking! Let’s hope it’s worth the wait!
