Amidst the dreadful coronavirus cases, the UN food agency gave us a yet another scare by unleashing the future of the world if the pandemic continues to grow.
On Tuesday, UN food agency made an announcement that the world might be on the brink of a hunger pandemic that could give rise to innumerable famines of biblical proportions. If action isn’t taken immediately, we might lead to another awful devastation for ourselves.
Are we nearing the end?
Director of the UN Security Council, David Beasley, stated that around 821 million people sleep on an empty stomach each night. Today, another 130 million people are on the brink of going through the same problem if the pandemic persists.
With such a large proportion of the masses who might be struggling fir food, it is almost impossible to ignore the red-flag that they are signalling at us. This means that we must already start preparing ourselves for another awful pandemic that might endanger the remaining population today.
“In a worst-case scenario, we could be looking at famine in about three dozen countries, and in fact, in 10 of these countries we already have more than one million people per country who are on the verge of starvation,” Beasley said in the UN Security Council meeting.
Economic drop is another big issue right now
Alongside mapping out the future of this pandemic, David also spoke about the harsh drawbacks that the economic drop will lead us into. Since the world is on a stringent lockdown, chances are that a large number of people might die due to a shortage of money which will automatically lead to hunger.
