A video went viral on Sunday showing Vizag doctor being beaten by the cops and he is found to be abusing the Andhra government in the video. Dr. Sudhakar Rao who is being beaten by the Vizag police is a government civil surgeon who was suspended in March for raising voice against the crisis of PPEs in the state hospitals and also against the doctors being exposed to COVID-19 patients wearing single masks for 15 days. Dr. Sudhakar said the PPEs bought for the doctors are being distributed to politicians and cops. He was charged for spreading false information.
On Sunday the police were informed about a man creating a nuisance on Beach Road Hospital in Vishakhapatnam. The fourth town police rushed to the place. The cops said that Rao went uncontrollably and was drunk which made them hit him. Later Rao was admitted to a mental hospital after being referred by VIZAG the superintendent of King George Hospital. Dr. Rao was admitted in the casualty ward of KGH and was found to be drunk and did not cooperate with the medical team, says reports.
‘Since the doctor is in anxiety and talking irrelevant things, I have referred him to a mental care hospital in Vishakhapatnam VIZAG ’said Dr. K. Arjuna (Medical superintendent King George hospital) VIZAG Dr. Sudhakar had been working as a civil surgeon for more than 10 years at Narshipatnam Hospital in Andhra Pradesh. The incidence has been criticized by the people and the medical board. People are raising questions: The doctor was unarmed then why was he taken into custody so brutally? Was the doctor being beaten because he raised voice against the state?
Dr. P. Gangadhar Rao, member of the National COVID committee considered the act to be ‘inhumane’, he further stated that they would write an apology to the state for being abused by the doctor and then move further to seek justice for him.
