Amidst COVID-19 crisis another disgusting incident captured our attention. Two men in Madhya Pradesh was arrested on Wednesday for shooting an obscene video of a 22-year-old quarantined woman.
The victim is a resident of Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. She had recently returned from Indore and was quarantined in a school in Kumar Bhatoli village, in Sagar district.
Rajesh Banjara, in-charge of Garhakota Police Station (Sagar district) said the accused had shot an obscene video of the woman bathing in a makeshift bathroom outside the quarantine center for COVID-19 patients and had threatened to release the video online.
The two accused are Sunil Ladiya and Laxman Ladiya. They both are in their twenties and last week they involved themselves in the lewd act of clandestinely shooting an indecent video of a woman bathing and threatened to upload the video online if their sexual demands were not met with.
On Wednesday night, the pair was arrested and a case was lodged against them, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The fact that a probable sick individual’s privacy was taken advantage of and used as a bait to get sexual demands met is as disgusting as concerning. It is shocking how men, from teenagers to adults have several tactics, each more disgusting than the other, to harass women, hurt them physically, sexually, and mentally. From a baby of a few months to 92-year-old nuns, no one is spared from twisted and nausea-inducing sexual needs of a particularly disgraceful range of men who bring shame on the entire gender.
Upbringing perhaps plays a huge role in shaping beings. Gender preference within society and families develop a false sense of privilege within young boys who feel they are entitled to the female body and often treat it as a conquest. Instead of suppressing sexual needs, if the useless taboos are spoken of and clarified to these kids, their perception of sexual interaction would change from that of a secret conquest to a natural need that is based on consent and respect.
The vaguer the knowledge regarding sexuality, the more will the concept of forbidden fruit spread its roots within a kid’s mind. Proper sex education is still due to our education system in the 21st century.
Madhya Pradesh was witness to another shameful activity and women once again feel a little less safe in this country where our own body can be used against us in the most sickening way.
Currently, Madhya Pradesh has confirmed 8000 COVID-19 cases and is fighting battle along with the rest of the country.
