Pope went on to say, “Let us welcome this time of trial as an opportunity Coronavirus to prepare for our collective future. Because without an all-embracing vision, there will be no future for anyone.”

“This may be the time to consider a universal basic wage which would acknowledge and dignify the noble, essential tasks you carry out,” he mentioned. “It would ensure and concretely achieve the ideal, at once so human and so Christian, of no worker without rights.”

On the day of Easter Coronavirus Sunday, Pope again spoke about the miseries of the poor as he wrote, “Street vendors, recyclers, carnies, small farmers, construction workers, dressmakers, the different kinds of caregivers: you who are informal, working on your own or in the grassroots economy, you have no steady income to get you through this hard time … and the lockdowns are becoming unbearable.”

Recently, Pope has also requested for a universal basic wage to overcome the economic loss due to Coronavirus that has devastated many homes across the world. He also mentioned that we might be nearing ourselves to “selfish indifference” too.
