Joker (2019) is a psychological thriller directed by Todd Phillips. Based on the DC comics, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the role of Arthur Fleck, who is a failed stand up comedian. Arthur, who faces a lot of criticism from the society, falls into the clutches of insanity and depression and other psychological disorders that caused a real-life medical condition called the Pseudobulbar Affect (PBA), that is, uncontrollable laughter. The movie is a thrill ride that has been set in 1981 and talks about the vicious nexus of the wealthy and the prosperous class of Gotham City. Moonlight

Moonlight(2016) is a coming of age film directed by Barry Jenkins. The movie portrays the youth, adolescence and early adult life of the protagonist Chiron. The struggles he faces during his life exploring his identity and sexuality all while dealing with the emotional and physical abuse he’s inflicted upon. 12 Years A Slave

12 years a slave is an adaptation of the 1853 slave memoir “Twelve years a slave”. Directed by Steve McQueen, the movie won three Academy Awards. The protagonist is Solomon Northup who is delivered to a slave pen where he is brutally tortured and wounded. His journey and his struggles and the justification and redemption he receives, in the end, is bound to tug at your heartstrings. The portrayal of the cruel slavery is astonishing and terrible. The Shape of Water

A dark romantic fantasy film directed by Guillermo del Toro. It is the love story of a mute cleaner and a captured humanoid amphibian creature in a government laboratory.
