Lockdown in The Land of The Free?

The United States is so commonly known as ‘The land of the free and the home of the brave’. But what really is the cost of freedom and bravery? As more and more states are imposing stay at home orders, and social distancing rules have been imposed till the 30th of April, more and more people are taking to the streets to protest it, trashing whatever little social distancing was left.

Every protestor has a different reason to ‘stand up to the draconian measures taken by the government’. Some belief a lockdown and having to stay at home is an infringement of their civil liberties, and so they’re taking to the streets to protect the ‘freedom’ their nation offers; ignoring that fact that actions like these might cost them their lives (and how does freedom really matter if you’re dead). Others are fighting for the protection of the economy, using the spike in unemployment due to the lockdown to support their argument (how does money really matter if you’re dead). Others believe that these measures won’t provide a permanent solution, and so their brilliant idea was to come to the streets, making any progress redundant. Donald Trump, in a series of tweets has also encouraged these protests, attracting criticism.

The land of the free and the home of the brave, These protests are starting to get out of hand. To curb these, nurses have stepped out, and are now directly stopping protesters, displaying absolute savagery. What America really needs, is economic support for the poor and assurance from the government, and a little bit of common sense.
