At the pinnacle of box office success, comic book adaptations have always attracted huge audiences and have become the mainstream Marvel and DC movies. Other than this, the online streaming services have provided a platform for the presentation of authentically produced stories beyond the superhero ones. Here are some series based on comic books that will surely enhance your viewing experience.

  • The Umbrella Academy- This is a unique story of a group of crime fighters. The show starts with 43 women giving birth without pregnancy on October 1, 1989. An extremely affluent man named Sir Reginald Hargreaves adopts 7 of the kids and turns them into a superhero team named the Umbrella Academy. They disband by circumstances but are reunited by a tragedy and finds themselves amidst a global apocalypse calling for action.
  • The Boys- Set in an alternate reality, The Boys, speak of individuals having superpowers who are owned by Vought International, a superhero corporate firm, which markets and employs superheroes across the globe. Contrary to conventional superheroes, these people do not believe in truth and justice and most abuse their abilities and disregard human life. However, the story revolves around a mere mortal Billy Butcher who hates superheroes and aims to bring down Homelander, the leader of the biggest super team.
  • Gotham- This series is named after a fictional city in the universe of DC and is home to none other than Batman. The series revolves around the early days in GCPD of Inspector Jim Gordon and the life of Bruce Wayne post the murder of his parents.
  • Agents of Shield- This is a Marvel series that follows the adventures of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistic Division (SHIELD). The shield is led by Agent Phil Coulson and deals with threats that aren’t grave enough to be brought to the attention of Avengers. This shows direct ties into the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and explains certain background events.
  • Chilling Adventures of Sabrina- Based on the comic series of Archie Universe, this show is about a half-witch and half-human Sabrina Spellman. She struggles to lead a normal life while trying to defeat evil forces with her witchcraft. A Darker take on the original comics, this show includes intense elements of horror.
  • Lucifer- This show is adapted from the character of DC Comics and this version of Lucifer Morningstar is bored with his job in hell and as defiance to God, he abandons his post of the devil. He opens a nightclub in Los Angeles taking the human form and later gets entangled in a murder. This show is all about his aftermath of abandoning his duties of hell and fighting demonic and angelic threats on Earth.
  • Titans- A darker adaptation of DC’s comic series of Teen Titans, this is all about young superheroes fighting evil by joining forces. The former partner of Batman and the first Robin takes a group of inexperienced people to help them realize their abilities.
